The Epilepsy Center of the Neurological Institute at University Hospitals Case Medical Center is searching for a neurologist with a subspecialization in epileptology. The Epilepsy Center is a Tier 4 (National Association of Epilepsy Centers) clinical and academic epilepsy center with a world renowned faculty that is particularly well known in the fields of surgical epilepsy, electromagnetic source imaging in epilepsy, epilepsy epidemiology and epilepsy informatics. All Epilepsy Center staff holds academic positions at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and have extremely close links with CWRU Neurosciences, the School of Medicine and CWRU Biomedical Engineering where the Center collaborates on a number of basic science projects. The Center also runs a bi-annual Epilepsy Course with national and international attendees. Responsibilities of the incumbent will include active participation in the clinical, educational and research programs of the epilepsy center. Academic career ambition is strongly encouraged. Early career mentorship will be provided wherever appropriate.

The ideal candidate should have completed a neurology residency and should have at least one year fellowship training in a recognized epilepsy center. Experience in the evaluation and management of epilepsy patients who are candidates for epilepsy surgery and in intra-operative monitoring are pre-requisites. The candidate should be accomplished in clinical care, research and education in epileptology. Faculty appointment at Case Western Reserve University will be at any level, commensurate with experience and credentials. Qualifications for Instructor include one or more years of epilepsy/neurophysiology fellowship. BE/BC in neurology. Qualifications for Assistant Professor include one or more years of epilepsy/neurophysiology fellowship. BE/BC in neurology. BC in neurophysiology preferred. Experience in epilepsy surgery, neurophysiology and intra-operative monitoring. Qualifications for Associate Professor or higher include one or more years of epilepsy/neurophysiology fellowship. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a faculty position in Biostatistics. Tenure track faculty are expected to conduct original and collaborative research, teach/supervise graduate students, and contribute to the University and profession through services. A lecturer is expected to teach three classes a year and participate in biostatistics core services.

Candidates are required to have a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics or a related area. Applicants for the Associate Professor rank must have a demonstrated record of excellent research in statistics/biostatistics, external funding, and national recognition of their research. Applicants for the Assistant Professor rank must show potential and interest for both independent original and collaborative research. Any focus of expertise and research interest within statistics and biostatistics will be considered. Those with excellent analytic, computational, writing, communication, and collaboration skills are encouraged to apply.

Case Western Reserve University seeks a dynamic and energetic leader to become its new Director of Athletics and Chair of Physical Education. As a member of the University Faculty, this position will hold a faculty rank commensurate with experience. The Director will oversee 19 varsity sports, 14 club sports, 35 intramural activities and an extensive program of physical education and personal fitness opportunities for students. RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide a clear vision of the role and mission of the department and provide the leadership and management that will achieve excellence across the department's comprehensive programs.
2. Supervise a competitive Division III intercollegiate program that fully complies with all applicable NCAA, UAA and University policies and legislation.
3. Oversee the University's required physical education program that includes every undergraduate student, and support the department's efforts to provide athletic and recreational participation opportunities to students with a range of interests and skills through the club sport and intramural programs.
4. Support, mentor and recruit an inclusive faculty and staff who are successful in their positions and who are also integrated into the greater University community. Provide professional development opportunities for department members. Support and model work-life balance expectations and responsibilities. Promote a full commitment to increased diversity and inclusion and gender equity.
5. Lead strategic planning and communicate departmental goals and objectives effectively. Monitor the plan's progress and manage budget and resources in accordance with producing desired results.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s or advanced degree is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as an athletic administrator managing a successful athletics
• Extensive knowledge of NCAA policies and regulations.
• Experience in facilities oversight and planning, budget management.
• Strategic planning experience and demonstrated expertise in the execution of strategic and operational plans

The Center for Global Health and Diseases at Case Western Reserve University seeks a highly motivated research associate/postdoctoral fellow in immunology to work with Drs. Arlene Dent and James Kazura on NIH supported projects involving human B cell memory development as related to infectious exposures such as malaria and HIV. The position offers excellent scientific training opportunities in a stimulating and collaborative environment with opportunities for international work.

Applicants should have a strong background in cellular immunology with experience with flow cytometry. Experience in cell based assays, cell culturing, cell sorting, and basic molecular bench skills are desired. Applicants will be expected to present research results at national and international conferences, write research papers and reviews, and supervise students.
Applicants should have excellent organizational skills for sample tracking and record keeping; will work with significant independence but under general direction. He or she will perform complex quantitative analytical procedures, stock and maintain laboratory and equipment, teach or instruct others in research techniques, contribute intellectually to project development providing input and recommendations and may co-author research projects and grants.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has a Research Associate position available to assist in the investigation of molecular magnetic resonance imaging for the detection of tumors. We are recruiting a highly motivated team player to help us perform molecular imaging of cancer in animal models. This NIH funded work is being conducted at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH.

The responsibilities for this position include: Conduct original research in magnetic resonance imaging methods for tumor detection.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, biology, or biomedical engineering. The Candidate will have technical skills in animal handling, surgery skills, optical imaging or MRI imaging experience. Experience working with animals is required. In addition, experience in tumor xenografts is preferred.

NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Jacek Skowronski to study biochemical mechanisms that mediate innate immunity to HIV infection. This funded research fellowship is an opportunity to become a part of an integrated program that includes basic research and clinical science. The program is a collaboration of leading clinical and academic partners and is the cornerstone of the Philips Healthcare Global Advanced Innovation Center at University Hospitals Case Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University.

This Fellowship is of three years duration and is targeted to PhD or MD/PhD level researchers in biomedical engineering/bioinformatics with a strong research interest in translational bioinformatics. Candidates should have an active appointment in an Academic Institution or Corporation.

The successful candidate should have experience in the following areas:
~ Computational biology/Bioinformatics
~ Analysis of cancer-related multi-omics data
~ Bayesian approaches to data analysis
~ Developing and evaluating novel algorithms and software
frameworks

Experience in one or more of the following is desires:
~ Analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data
~ Integrating publicly available biological databases
~ General software integration, maintenance, and evaluation
~ Proficiency in R/Perl and C or C++

Experience and knowledge in integrative genomic analysis of whole transcriptome, SNP, copy number and epigenetic data are an advantage.

The fellow would manage 2-3 clinically related research projects and be a team member of additional projects and thereby have opportunities and experiences in numerous areas. Mentorship from faculty at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals would be provided and would evolve over time as the fellows gains experience towards becoming a principal investigator. The fellow would be expected to submit and present abstracts at annual meetings, co-author and first-author manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and be part of teams that create jointly owned intellectual property in the form of invention disclosures and patent applications.

The fellow would be encouraged to participate in projects under the Philips Master Research Agreement. Activities would include research study planning and design, data analysis, manuscript preparation and submission and if applicable filing of joined intellectual property.

For the self-directed, motivated individual, these will be very productive years. In addition to improving research skills in an academic environment, the successful fellow will have full-time research experience, a publication track record and strong letters of recommendation and thus be well-positioned to continue an academic or corporate research career at other places.
